Although I’ve never been a fishermen, several of my friends who are tell me that I’m missing a great way to relax and unwind – and given that fishermen spend a lot of their lives gazing at a float on the surface of the river surrounded by beautiful countryside and the sound of the birds singing, I can certainly understand the attraction.
They do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I suppose I should be somewhat flattered to learn that Surrey Police has joined forces with Spelthorne, Elmbridge and Runnymede Neighbourhood Watches to launch a new crime reduction initiative called – River Watch.
Elaine Cole from Walton loves to take a walk beside the river. She enjoys watching the boats go by, looking at the wildlife and she also takes the opportunity to re-stock her medicine cabinet.
