With so much attention focused on Olympic events, I wanted to remind readers that we have our own unique local competitive action coming up on Saturday, August 11 in the shape of Sunbury amateur regatta.

It’s one of my favourite weekends on the river this Saturday and Sunday when Sunbury stages its annual regatta – always guaranteed to be a great fun day almost regardless of what the weather throws up.

He’s great, my brother. When he and I decided to club together and buy a boat a couple of years back, I was a bit hesitant because of the possible technical problems that have to be overcome when you take on the responsibility of owning a vessel.
