So the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is upon us and all over Britain, people are celebrating the monarch’s 60 years on the throne.
At last it appears that our long-delayed spring may be about to appear – and not before time as far as I’m concerned.
Reader Joan Tait of Chertsey Lane, Egham Hythe wrote to me recently asking about the history of Truss’s Island on the Surrey bank of the Thames just above Penton Hook Lock.
